Who hasn’t shied away from an activity for fear of not fitting into the group, the uniform or the kayak? Mélissa Bédard, Mélanie Couture and Guylaine Guay, three sensitive, authentic and funny friends, prove that nothing should stand in the way of our fun in Big Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Too (Toutoune journée). This entertaining series of 8 x 20-minute episodes will be available online in its entirety in the VÉRO.TV section of ICI TOU.TV EXTRA starting Tuesday, March 12.
Sadly, people of all ages and backgrounds shy away from having fun. For fear of being judged by others, for fear that the equipment isn’t suitable for their size, sometimes for fear of not succeeding… The gaze of others is too often a brake. Comic girls are no exception, but they make it their mission to bypass obstacles and launch themselves into the void!
In a social context where grossophobia is at the heart of many debates, and where the prejudice that fat people are inactive persists, these three friends, born in three different decades, try activities that seem to be reserved for the young and thin. On the menu: boxing, climbing, yoga, paddleboarding, waterslides, cheerleading, pole fitness and wakeboarding. A multitude of activities, proposed by their friend Christine Morency, which prove that they’re not afraid of a good laugh.
Immersed in the fun atmosphere of an activity, our three entertainers share their life experiences, their injuries and their pride. Like XXL Charlie’s Angels, they show that nothing is too difficult when you dare. Large-format cheerleaders who fall down and get back up laughing. It’s not about making thin people feel guilty or victimizing them, but about giving ourselves (and by the same token everyone else) the right to experience things that, a priori, aren’t always for us. Mélissa, Mélanie and Guylaine are sure to have something to say to everyone.
