Starting Thursday, June 6 at 9 p.m., CASA subscribers will be able to discover the new season of the original production When Walls Come Down (Quand les murs tombent), produced by Avanti-Toast in collaboration with Québecor Contenu. Five new couples embark on major renovations and live the day-to-day life of their construction site. With kindness and humor, new host Jean-François Mercier will take the pulse of the couples throughout the worksite to see how they’re coping with the major project they’ve embarked on. At his side, the dynamic Paule Bourbonnais will be on hand to guide the couples through the layout of the space, to create a living environment in their own image. She’ll also be there to set the record straight, and reassure them when the construction period stretches out or the budget creates insomnia. Challenges and unforeseen events are just around the corner! Their married life will be turned upside down, and love will be put to the test. The roller-coaster emotions will require dialogue and compromise to bring everything to a successful conclusion.

THE COUPLES
Mélanie and Alexandre-Vincent have to renovate their entire basement following major water damage. While they’re at it, they want a fresh start. This means rethinking the family room, their daughter’s bedroom and the bathroom, which doubles as the laundry room. Mélanie is organized, but sometimes stressed by deadlines and finances. Alexandre-Vincent is eternally positive, but has a tendency not to finish the projects he undertakes.

Isabelle and Mario form a blended family with their five children. Their family home, located in a rural setting, has been handed down from generation to generation. Their goal is to reconfigure the first floor and enlarge the kitchen and dining room to better suit their needs. A skilled builder and hard worker, Mario will do most of the work. The family will live on the site during the renovations, and Isabelle, in addition to telecommuting amid the hubbub, will manage family life.

Nathalie and Yvon are embarking on a new phase in their married life, as the youngest has just left the family nest. They’ve decided to renovate the house to their liking. They love to entertain and need to arrange the space to better accommodate their large family. Nathalie is used to managing projects and teams. Yvon wants his girlfriend to be happy, but will still have a say in the plans and design.

Alyssa and Olivier are the new owners of their first home. However, the layout of the first floor of their cottage is not the most practical and needs to be rethought. It’s a big project for them, and they’re on a very tight budget. To make it happen, everyone will be pitching in, especially Alyssa’s father-in-law, who will act as handyman. The workload will be immense, and so will the compromises.

Florent and Laurent own a century-old duplex in the heart of the Plateau Mont-Royal. At the same time, the couple is embarking on two major projects: converting their duplex into a cottage, and becoming parents to twins who will be born during the renovation! They have experience of major renovation projects in the past, but family life is new to them. What’s more, they’ll have to relocate for the duration of the work.
