A fun and biting journey, Chiliheads takes us on the hot pepper road to Mexico, through Quebec, the United States, France and China to meet hot pepper addicts, or chiliheads. They are farmers and producers, but also scientists, historians, and, of course, consumers, and they will introduce us to the culture and sub-culture that surrounds this unique fruit-spice. It is a cinematographic, ethnobotanical, historical, and anthropological investigation, telling the story of Man and hot pepper from their first “encounter” to present day. What can this strange love story between Man and this forbidden fruit reveal about ourselves? Through a quest for the strongest hot pepper, this film highlights the craziest and most astonishing sides of the human being; the hot pepper is indeed the reflection of Man’s desire for greatness.
