CASA is pleased to announce the return of When Walls Come Down (Quand les murs tombent), produced by AVANTI-TOAST in collaboration with Québecor Contenu. For the second season, designer Paule Bourbonnais will be joined by a brand new accomplice: Jean-François Mercier. The duo will accompany five couples who are undergoing major renovations, to see for themselves the scale of the material and personal challenges involved. Unlike traditional renovation shows, When Walls Come Down  focuses on the human side of major renovations. The desire to set up a new home comes with a fair share of stress, doubts, misunderstandings, fatigue and unforeseen events that can have a major impact on a couple, sometimes to the point of breaking up.

It’s this aspect that Jean-François Mercier is particularly interested in. With kindness and humor, he will take the pulse of spouses throughout the project, to see how they are coping with the large-scale project they have embarked upon. At his side, the dynamic Paule Bourbonnais will always be on hand to guide couples through the layout of the space, to create a living environment in their image. She’ll also be there to set the record straight, and reassure them when the construction period drags on or the budget creates insomnia.

“Jean-François will be the perfect confidant to support participants through the many ups and downs they will experience during their renovations. He’ll be just the right person to assist designer Paule Bourbonnais as she guides couples through the realization of an important life project,” says Ian Quenneville, Executive Producer at AVANTI-TOAST.

CASA is delighted to welcome Jean-François Mercier as one of the channel’s headliners. When Walls Come Down presents the challenges of major construction projects in a realistic and different way, and we’re convinced that this second season will resonate with viewers just as much as the first,” says Nathalie Fabien, Senior Director, Channels and Programming, Groupe TVA.

“Not only will Jean-François support the duos as they embark on a major project, but he’ll also be able to play down situations with a sense of humor. He’ll form the perfect tandem with Paule Bourbonnais,” explains Johanne Ménard, Director, Original Content, Documentary and Lifestyle, at Québecor Contenu.
