A third season with an even more uncompromising Martin Picard as judge-mentor, and a finale in the middle of winter!
VRAI is pleased to announce the return of Quebec’s wildest culinary competition to its platform: Chefs de bois, hosted by Mathieu Baron and Martin Picard, and produced by Avanti-Toast in collaboration with Québecor Contenu. In addition to the eight one-hour episodes, of which two are released per week, subscribers will also be able to watch the making of this original production. The series has received numerous accolades, including two Gémeaux Awards for Best Reality TV and Best Direction, awarded to Brian Desgagnés, who remains at the helm of the third season!
A merciless third season
This new season brings together top-level candidates from across Quebec and Canada. In survival mode in the forest, with the bare minimum equipment, the chefs must take on culinary challenges to create gourmet dishes and impress judge-mentor Martin Picard. Facing hunger, discomfort, and the cold, they must also face unexpected twists and overcome physical endurance tests. With Martin’s help, Mathieu Baron has prepared daring challenges for the contestants! Those who succeed can earn advantages in the kitchen or the chance to obtain the golden axe, which allows them to avoid being burned at the stake and eliminated. No matter the challenges, no compromise is accepted on the plate! The culinary challenges are even more complex, the wooden challenges more exhausting—in short, the competition has leveld-up. In addition to doubling their efforts and strategies to avoid elimination, the chefs must make allies within the group if they want to earn a spot in the finals.
A finale in the dead of winter!
A major new obstacle: the chefs are faced with an unfamiliar and icy territory for the finale. To be crowned the woodland chef of the season, they’ll have to redouble their efforts and creativity. Supplies are scarce, the food is complex to cook, and the facilities are more basic than ever. Winter is yet another challenge in the competition!
A 9th episode: The Making of Wild Cooks
The film crew reveals the logistical secrets of their kitchen, as producing such a competition in the woods also creates challenges behind the camera. Several weeks before filming, the team must choose the wildmeat, as the culinary challenges are based on them. Martin Picard is involved in the process to guide the team. Finally, we also discover the behind-the-scenes details of the physical challenges that lead to kitchen privileges.
Which chef has the tenacity, creativity, and talent to win the grand prize of $25,000 and to be crowned THE woodland chef of the third season?
