OnWednesday, January 24, as part of Journée Bell Cause pour la cause, Bell Média will present LE CLOWN EST TRISTE, a documentary that attempts to understand and demystify the increasing presence of mental health issues among comedians.
It’s a well-known fact: behind those who make us laugh sometimes lies a sad clown. In intimate encounters, Jean-François Mercier, Simon Gouache, Cathy Gauthier, Mario Jean, Maude Landry, Coco Belliveau and Preach will lift the veil on their own vulnerabilities. Louise Richer, students from the École nationale de l’humour and specialists will also share their observations.
“As part of Bell Cause pour la Cause Day, Bell Media will offer a humane and empathetic documentary, where audiences will recognize themselves in the comedians’ testimonials. LE CLOWN EST TRISTE brings to the fore an often hidden reality in the lives of these artists: that they remain human and go through the same struggles as everyone else,” says Suzane Landry, Vice President, Content Development, Programming and Information at Bell Media.
The 60-minute documentary is an Avanti-Toast production, in collaboration with Bell Media. Emmanuelle Plante and Giuliano Bossa are the directors.
