Two programs produced by Avanti-Toast are among the finalists for the Rockie Awards 2024, to be held at the Banff World Media Festival in June. The series Breathe In Breathe Out (Inspirez expirez) is in the running in the Comedy Series: Non-English Language category, while Wild Cooks (Chefs de bois) stands out among the Reality Series.
“We’re delighted to see these productions, from different genres, shine in such a competition. It’s an honor we share with the entire Avanti-Toast team, but also with the creators and artisans who contributed to their success”, enthuses Ian Quenneville, co-president of Avanti-Toast.
Both titles will be exhibiting at MIPTV from April 8 to 10 in Cannes. Avanti Distribution, which was responsible for the success of Love Bugs (Un gars, une fille) abroad, is overseeing sales of Breathe In Breathe Out (Inspirez expirez) on the international market, while Banijay is distributing the Wild Cooks (Chefs de bois) format.
Wild Cooks
In this reality show hosted by Mathieu Baron, chefs placed in a forest survival situation take on culinary challenges and overcome physical endurance tests. With the bare minimum, and despite fatigue, hunger and discomfort, they must create gourmet dishes to impress mentor judge Martin Picard. The competition is produced in collaboration with Québecor Contenu and broadcast on the Vrai platform, the specialty channel Zeste, as well as on TVA and TVA+. TVA viewers will be able to discover the third season on Tuesdays at 9 p.m., starting April 2.
Breathe In breathe Out
Written by Sonia Cordeau and directed by Jean-François Chagnon, Inspirez expirez oscillates between comedy and thriller. Over the course of 10 30-minute episodes, we follow Sophie (Sonia Cordeau) and Vicky (Virginie Fortin), incompatible “friends” who are forced to unite to save their skins during a yoga retreat gone awry. The series, produced in collaboration with Bell Média, is still available on Crave in French with English subtitles.
