Thursdays, November 7, 14, and 21 at 8:00 PM, Télé-Québec will air the last three episodes of season 10 of On Duty 24/7 (De garde 24/7).
Through these episodes, filmed at the Ungava Tulattavik Health Centre in Kuujjuaq and the Multi-Service Health and Social Services Center in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, we get a glimpse into the reality of medicine in remote regions, where healthcare staff must constantly contend with isolation and limited resources. The camera also follows the EVAQ (Emergency Medical Air Evacuations of Quebec) air ambulance, which assists healthcare teams across the province when they reach the limits of their resources.
“You are in the middle of nowhere, you are isolated. Between villages, it’s only by plane, there’s no other way to get around. The isolation, the confinement, the fact that we don’t have all the resources, no operating room, no specialists. You really need to have a strong intuition.” – Dr. Saliou Mbaye, family doctor in Kuujjuaq
On Duty 24/7 (De garde 24/7), Thursdays at 8:00 PM on TV, online, and on the Télé-Québec app.
