First Line (Premier trio), Wild Cooks (Chefs de bois), and Discreet (Discrètes) won the Gémeaux Award for Best Show in their respective categories last Sunday. Teen show First Line won the Gémeaux Award for Best Children’s Fiction Series (12 and under). Charles Grenier and Philippe Grenier were recognized for their direction, and Mathieu Drouin caught the Academy’s attention by winning his first Gemini Award in the category of Best Supporting Role: Children’s Programming. The character he portrays, Émile, particularly resonates with young audiences and their concerns.
Wild Cooks, Quebec’s wildest cooking competition, was named Best Reality Show. For the third consecutive year, Brian Desgagné won the Gémeaux Award for Best Direction: Game or Reality Show.
Tackling a very topical subject, the series Discreet, produced in collaboration with Amalga, won the Gémeaux Award for Best Original Production for Digital Media: Drama. Olivier Gervais-Courchesne stood out, winning the award for Best Lead Role in a Production for Digital Media.
Sonia Cordeau’s talent and creativity earned her the Gémeaux Award for Best Comedy Writing for the series Breathe In Breathe Out (Inspirez expirez). Steve Laplante was recognized for his performance, winning the Gemini Award for Best Supporting Role in a Comedy.
