The Quirky Family (La Petite Vie) is back on our screens for a brand-new miniseries of six 30-minute episodes, 30 years after it first aired on Radio-Canada! Faithful to the team that created the original series, author Claude Meunier is once again joined by Josée Fortier as script consultant and director, and Pierre Séguin as director. Don’t miss the reunion of the famous Paré clan, as new episodes of The Quirky Family go online tomorrow on ICI TOU.TV EXTRA! Produced by Avanti-Toast, The Quirky Family will also air on ICI TÉLÉ starting in February 2024.

Today, Quebec’s most absurd and dysfunctional family navigates the troubled waters of modernity, adapting (sometimes with difficulty) to new technologies and often destabilizing social currents. The Parés also have to deal with a major disruptive element that upsets them all: Moman’s departure. Ti-Mé (Claude Meunier) is extremely bored and trying to cope with his grief. And even though they’re all trying to be there for him, those closest to him have to admit that they’ve already got their own worries.

Rénald (Marc Labrèche) lives an anxious retirement, convinced that he will eventually run out of money. Lison (Josée Deschênes), for her part, is embarking on a small advertising career, where she’s proving to be more of an influencer than an influencer. While Caro (Guylaine Tremblay) returns from exile in a faraway land where she can finally be herself, Thérèse (Diane Lavallée) is more into astral projection. Réjean (Marc Messier) worries about her absences, although he himself regularly disappears to work in strange places… Rod (Bernard Fortin) is always on the lookout for someone to do his washing, especially now that Moman is gone. As for Pogo (Rémy Girard), he hasn’t forgotten his old friend, but it’s clear that he’s losing bits and pieces…

Even today, the Parés still live in their parallel world, but they’re very much of our time. The characters may have aged, and the issues that preoccupy them have changed, but to our delight, their personalities have remained the same. The Paré family remains united by love… and by a good dose of humor!

The Paré family has been delighting Quebec audiences ever since they first appeared on the small screen in 1993. The Quirky Family shattered audience records and swept all the honors when it first aired for 59 episodes, and has continued to seduce all generations in reruns for the past 30 years. Above all, Claude Meunier’s singular work has carved out a special place for itself in our collective imagination. The original series continues to delight hundreds of thousands of viewers every Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on ICI TÉLÉ.
